Why did you choose your username?

Well, mine is a combination of my daughter's name. I am Catheryn's mother...aka....catsma. But, many have assumed that I like kitty cats. Funny thing though, I am alergic to them!! So, the only cat in my life is my daughter.

And, the numbers are my zip code.

Mine is my son's initials and the year he was born (ccb04).

On some other non-fish related forums I've belonged to it was my daughter's initials and the year she was born (jnb01).

I get asked about mine quite a bit as you could imagine. As a teenager I played a lot of football and was a fairly hard hitter. The only clothes I would ever wear to play were black sweats and a black Raiders Marcus Allen jersey as it was the only jersey I owned(gift from quarterback older cousin) and a black doo rag on my head. One day I hit a guy(running back) so hard he refused to run at me anymore and stood up in the huddle and shouted "I'm not running at Black Death no more!"......and bingo, that's how a nickname is born lol.

The 75 after it is my favorite football player of all time Howie Long's number.

The reason BD is my small nickname is because after years of online gaming with hundreds of different, Black something or other, gamer names all my guys I played with just started calling me BD because when you said "Black" over voice comms about 40 people answered.

Although the nickname has been thought of:
Racist
The Plague
Use your imagination
I was a mean African American
etc.....

None of which are true, but people sometimes see what they want to.

I thought it was plague-related.

gremlin
  • #45
Mine is a nickname that one of my old bosses gave me. I would always get in to work before her and do the work on her desk so when she came in she thought a "gremlin" had been in and done her work. She called me the office gremlin.

Any half-decent show from the States and Aussies have to resort to illegal downloading...

I am off now to do some research on Vishous from the Black Dagger Brotherhood...

Hey Bubbly, you can wait until it comes out on DVD. Someone loaned me the first series and I watched in a weekend! I was stuck at home on call so it wasn't that big a waste of a weekend. I've read practically all her books now too.

Meenu, I prefer Wrath but to each her own

Elodea, I have to apologise. I thought you were a girl for ages :-\

Rhan

Now I suddenly realized that calling myself "Anacharis" would have been better, because for some odd reason, "Elodea" sounds mildly feminine...

I actually assumed you were a girl when I first joined fishlore lol I wasn't used to looking at the little symbols. It has a really nice ring to it.

Well, my name is actually Rhiannon, but I have a lazy friend who went through a phase of shortening people's names. So she called me 'Rhan', rather than 'Rhi' which other people called me. Rhan kinda stuck, at least with that particular group of friends anyway. And 'Rhan' isn't really all that common a username, so it works

When I first joined, I had no idea what to pick. My workmate beside me suggested Tigerfish as it was the first one she thought of. That sounded a bit formal, so I added a "y". No special reason haha!!

I'm reading Wrath's book right now. He's just told Beth what she is, but she hadn't transitioned yet. ;D

No, I persuade the fish to give up through pressure from the rod.

Jaysee, I think people are reading way too far into your statement! In the end, it means what it means to each of us... which is part of the whole persuasive pressure thing.

I used to be a massage therapist....another meaning for persuasive pressure.

ohhhhhh that is very enlightening so I take it the persuasive pressure didn't work well though, because you said "used" to be a massage therapist. so then you had to change your user name

I chose mine about 10 yrs ago when I got divorced. My ex told me I was a bad habit, and bad habits are hard to break. So I have used it ever since on my computer. I use it for all my log ins. Never had it rejected. So every one asks me what my bad habit is.

Mine is my name with an extra "E" on the end because it said Paige was already taken. I figured it was pretty simple. I was going to use peike, which is apparently my name in Hawaiian (there was a faze when I was 12 to go on some website and see your name in Hawaiian... Not sure why ) but it seemed too childish... To me at least

lol still one of my personal favorites. When they do the 24 hour marathon on TBS it stays there and nobody is allowed to touch my tv. It's as regular as Christmas lights in my house.

ivan.tsary
  • #70
Ivan Tsary is an abbriviation of Ivan Tsarevitch, who is the "Prince Charming" of Russian Folklore. Also, Ivan is the slavic version of my first name and Tsarevitch means "son of the King" which has a correlation to my religious beliefs.

  • #73
I was signing up for an eBay account and my real name was taken. I asked my sister what would be a good username and she said "What about 'The Quiet Man'? You remind me of Sean Thornton". "thequietman" was taken and "thequietman44" was one of the suggested alternates so I chose that.

It's the only username I've ever used besides my real name .
