Why did my guppy die?

Woke up this morning to find one of my red blonde male guppies has died :(

He had been hiding for the last few days but always came out for a swim with his other guppy friend every now and then.

I noticed that he has some red marks on his body and I'm not quite sure what they are...

I am still in the process of cycling my tank (10G) and there are also 5 neons in the tank which seem great, no change in behaviour. I am aware they need larger than 10G but I am still looking to rehome them.

    Ammonia 0.50ppm
    Nitrite 0ppm
    Nitrate 0ppm

I have been doing daily water changes between 25-50%.

Anyone have an idea what the red marks are or why he died in general?

    I'm sorry for your loss.

Guppies are the sweetest little fishies.

Harmful levels of ammonia and nitrites will harm your fish over time. Do you use Prime? It will help detoxify harmful ammonia and nitrites into non-toxic form.

Do you use any kind of salt?

Was his spine curved like that even when he was alive? Can't tell from the pics when he was alive.

I don't have any Prime or use any salt in the tank unfortunately.

And I never noticed any curving of the spine dead nor alive

I would recommend using Prime or some kind water conditioner that can detoxify all bad toxins.

My DG had a red sore then dropsy. Prime has keep all my fish alive and healthy through my cycle process

Ok maybe it's just the pic then.
