Why Did 1 Ghost Shrimp Changed To Off-white Opaque?

I have several ghost shrimp in a community tank. 1 ghost shrimp changed from transparent to off-white opaque starting in a spot in the tail and spreading over a few days. It's been like that for a couple of weeks now.

Is it contagious? What is it???

Here is a recent pic of both a regular ghost (different one) and the changed (sick?) ghost shrimp

From what I've heard it's not good. They generally die when they turn white like that. I've seen similar post. Never seen it myself

I've lost track if it's been like that for 2, 3, or for a month now. Seems like if they generally die, then that would have happened by now...

Still does not explain what it is though.

I have seen others mention in different threads on a different subject that they have ghost shrimp that this has happened to, but since it was not the thread topic, nothing more was said on it... I am surprised that there has not been anything to contribute to this thread beyond is it dead or doesn't look good... (I guess that is the long way to type bump)

Dead shrimp will not have the same body position as an alive one.

Mine (5 of them) became diluted milk white (not solid white as yours) after few days after arrival, heated tank with good parameters, but soft water and very low kH, after being in feeders tank in pet store. I assumed that it was stress in new water conditions.

Recovered nicely after few days and now are clear brown and active. All I did was dosing buffer, partial water changes and feed daily.

I had high loss when bought them as feeders for lionfish, all where milky color when died.

If it starts from the tail then it's a disease. I don't remember the source but it's a type of shrimp disease which has a high mortality rate I believe.
