What's everyone's opinion on the best treatment for White Ich
Never had white ich in my tanks before, just noticed my textras with white spots on them they are in with 4 platys and my betta fish plus 2 corydora catfish I have a white spot remedy medication that my pet store gave me and told to pop it in the again in 3 days with a small amount of salt and to do a water change on the 3 day before putting more medication in.
I have put in the first lot will any of my fish die, I really am hoping not to loose my betta fish if possible, some of my platys are lying on the bottom of the tank not sure if they are just resting or it is because of the white ich, also I have tested for all ph,ammonia, nitrate and Nitrites they are all good, my tank did have a problem of cloudiness which I fixed by moving my tank away from the back door where it was getting too much light the fish in my tank have been in the tank for 2 months no new ones have been put in just wondering why now I would of gotten white ich

If you live in Australia the ich treatment/ white spot remedy is your only choice. As you have already started the treatment continue with it.
Adding an air stone if you hav one?

If you live in another country you might be able to use a high temperature to slow the ich breeding in your water.

As you have started the ich treatment follow the instructions. Continue treatment for a week after you see the last spots. Yes do the water changes as recommended in the instructions.

If you have no airstone a slight lowering of the water will also help with getting extra oxygen into the water if you use a hang on back filter?
As you live in the hot climate and are no doubt having a hot day add an air stone or two permanently into any tank . A sponge filter is as good as an air stone in helping with oxygen levels in times of hot weather.

Thank you I was always told betta fish don't like bubbles so I didn't put an airstream in the tank but I can grab one easy tomorrow morning to help the tank

I understand that salt is a no go with Corydoras Catfish, so you may want to be careful.

It is true that male betta bred to have extra long tails can not swim well in any current. That is the main reason not to have multiple filters in a betta tank. A sponge filter offers good filtration without much flow/ current.
Or could it be Petbarn would rather not sell you a $9 sponge filter for $29 when they can sell you a $50 hang on back for $55?

Exactly how bubbles put oxygen into water is a long story of some debate. What is not up for debate is that it will do no harm when run at a moderate volume/ normal volume.
Check out the price compared to Petbarn . But you need it as soon as possible anyway. This may be of help in the future only?
