Does your aquarium have a particular fish that runs the show?

55 Gal. African Cichlid tank boss: melanochromis Johanni. Its his world, the others just live in it.

29 Gal. salty: Neon velvet damsel. AKA "The Brat".

100 Gal. Community: No particular boss, they take turns.

40 Gal. Goldfish..............Nuff said

Well in my community tank the Honey Gourami thinks he is boss, but the Pleco puts him in his place when required.

55 gal the boss are both angels ...they rule all the cories

rest of my tanks take turns ...whoever wakes up on the wrong side of the bubble wand rules the tank for the day

Well I have a betta in his own tank. Which would normally not apply to this thread, except he thinks he's the boss of everything OUTSIDE his tank. He still flares at my fiance a lot when he gets close.

Yeah wifey has 7 betta's including 2 tanks that are divided.............all of them think they're the boss...........I think it goes without saying that betta's are the boss.

10g: Well Hollywood and Diva rule their respective halves, but considering what happened when Diva jumped the barrier, she's the real ruler of the water in there...

29g: The Angelfish rules the top 2/3, the Bolivian Ram pair squabble over the floor area.

90g: The male Firemouth that just spawned rules the roost over the other FM, the Green Terror, and the Pictus

Strangely, in my community tank one of my emperor tetras is the boss. He chases everyone around, especially the other emperors. Honestly, I don't know what his problem is.

I have a large Neon Rainbow fish male that occasionaly goes nuts and chases all the females, then the other male, then the females, then just goes hyper darting in the tank. That is until he thoroughly annoyes my dwarf gourami who will lunge at him, quickly putting the rainbow in his place.

In my 36g community it's definitely the largest Angel. His tank, lets everyone else live there. Like hockyref88's Cichlid. Especially now when the pair are getting their leaf ready. Now that I think of it, that's how my cat looks at this house. He just lets us reside here.

My 20 gallon comunity doesn't really have a boss.

Mine are all pretty well balanced....

Although my little 'dragon' (aka Danno the pleco) isn't out much, when he is, all other fish tremble in fear at his ferocity and grandeur! (not even joking... he took on my GSPPs...)

And Volta will beat the tar out of almost any fish, that's why she's with Danno, they balance each other out

55 gallon~ Male Black Molly, King!

Now I have two 5 gallon tanks divided with Bettas, Out of Jazz and Momo its Jazz who is the boss, Momo could careless about who is on the otherside. Out of Rags and Shimmer there is no boss, they could careless about who is on the otherisde.

Then I have a 2.5 gal~ Betta female, Silver, she rules her own world because she is the only one in it.

29 gallon~Is my fry tank from the community 55 gallon and they all take turns ruling, its cute!

I just added two female platies to my newest tank yesterday and the smallest one has taken charge of the tank. My lonely male, Foley, follows her around the whole tank like her subject (hmm, I wonder why? )
In my 20 gallon cool water tank, it's pretty much just anarchy.
In my 10 gallon, everyone is laid back and doesn't really care about anyone else.

In my 20 gal I've got 2 baby Gold Severum Cichlids, Pearl GourmaI and a Senegal Bichir ALL moving to my 55 gal very soon. But out of them all the bigger Severum is the BOSS!! He's only like maybe 2.5 inches. Aggressive little bugger when it comes to feeding time! Chases everybody away from the side of tank when he sees me coming!

One of my Brochis Splendens, Schnitzel, is totally in charge. She has this one spot on the gravel that she always sits in, and if she ever catches any of the others sitting there, she bolts towards them, stops right before they crash, then takes her spot back. Its really cute, although its freaking out Tchaikovsky, who used to be the biggest, and is now the runt.

Oh, and Pink, what was your pleco doing in with your puffers? I thought they were brackish....

Probably my CAE. He doesn't nip at anybody or anything, but the other fish will stay away from his cave. One of my sword fry has taken a liking to him, though- it's so funny to see this little 1 cm long fry following a 3 inch long CAE while the other fish avoid him like he's a leper.

Second in command is my female sword, though- she rules the tank with an iron fin. After her first batch of fry, her personality totally changed and now everyone makes room for the queen- not even her mate will push her.
