I'm cycling a 100 litre tank. Getting a bit cramped in there

I needed an algae eater and although he was expensive I couldn't resist him. I'm so weak *sighs*

Except that lizard cats are omnivores. They eat both plants and meats. So don't expect him to be a algae control, he will need frozen foods, shrimp pellets etch as well.

I'll make sure he gets a good varied diet. I have flake, blood worms, pellets and there are live plants in the tank. Thanks for the tip Soltarianknight. I've never had a lizard cat before.

Well the same goes for most catfish species, even the pleco species. Algae eaters would be Nerite snails, Ottos, Amano shrimp and so on, Bn plecos do a little work.

So, no room for any more fish in there, but the Nerite snails and Amano shrimp, do they need to be taken into consideration when thinking about tank capacity?

My mollies used to do a great job with the algae but I don't have them any more, and I have noticed the build-up of algae since they went.

If this is your heavily over stocked 60l then you'll have to wait. The cardinals and 1 DG stock it alone. Whiptails need a bigger tank then that, as do harlys and if you have plans on keeping the 2 DG alive you'll want to separate them or move them into a 45+ gal tank.

I have a 100 litre fishless cycling and hopefully ready to go in a few weeks. I was just curious about how the snails and shrimps would affect the capacity iykwim.

ETA - I'm doing regular pwc and my levels are fine.

yeah but even in the 100litre it would still only be big enough for 1 school, 1 DG and the whiptail and a few shrimps or snails.

But I'll have three tanks on the go then so I can do that. I know I'm overstocked but I don't want to transfer anything until the new tank is fully cycled. I've made that mistake before and ended up doing daily water changes for weeks.
