Who Loves Monster Fish??

Well, I'm running out of space in the reptile room, and I can't seem to satisfy my needs for MORE tanks and MORE fish. So, I'm starting to put money towards a new room fund, so that I can move all my big animals into one small/medium warehouse on the back of my house (got plenty of land to use). Part of this is that I want to really beef up my monster fish collection. I'm going to get a bunch of above ground pools, ranging from 600 gallons to 17,000 gallons, for expanding my monster fish collection. This won't happen for a long time, but I'm going to start planning it out now so that I know when I have enough money to actually start building. I've got a pretty big wishlist as of now, all freshwater:
As you can see, this could very well be one of the biggest private collections of monster fish anywhere, and the total system volume is planned to be around 78,000 gallons not including the sumps and filtration - a BIG system. I'm seriously considering charging admission to this thing, because keeping this to myself would be selfish - not to mention if it's public, it's gonna be easier to get my dream fish (asian arowana).

Southeastern, about 1 and a half hours from Myrtle Beach.

Now if I could just figure out how to filter and heat 75,000 gallons of water I'd be set... lol! I would imagine it would not be too expensive, at least compared to a saltwater system that was 1/25 of the size of this one. I'm looking at custom Ultima II filters as we speak, trying to get a price quote. Lights could be shoplights from Home Depot, because there won't be any live plants involved. If things stay relatively cheap (under, say, $100K) then I could potentially look at pouring concrete, filling one side with a single big glass pane, and then making some natural-looking tanks that would look WAY nicer, and you would get to see the fish from the top and the side. But for now, it's not going to happen until I figure out how much the filter's gonna cost.

I was at a reptile show in raleigh last weekend and talked to a guy that had a large allI snapper that he rescued and he actually heats his enclosure with the heating element In a hottub you could look in to som ething like that.

Did I just read "cheap" and "100k" in the same sentence?

This sounds like it would be a wonderland of fish!

That's pretty amazing what you are planning there and I look forward to see some pictures.

As for the asian Arowana I have to say that they are pretty cheap here and many different ones available.
Don't know if you can ship fish from the Philippines to the States....seems a long way.
