I just give the group a name. EX: If there is 8 fish, you could call them the planets.

Yes I have 3 nerite snails that I deemed "the beastie boys" and I name the Giant bettas I have after scientific names for big, such as "kilo" and "Macro". I also have a betta that I named killer clown, because he is frightening when he dashes at you. (I'm afraid of clowns and my bf knew this and got him lol) he is a funny fish , alot of personality

Yeah since I have had my wife doing all of the brine shrimp routine morning and night she has named this guy “ flash “ because he turns up in a flash for the live food. We have had him in our lives since he was a grain of sand with a tail. Now she’s feeding him morning and night she’s picked the name.

I named everyone that I manage to tell apart. I tell rosy barbs by the shape of their fins (they're fin nippers, and have different pieces missing). The boys are Flash (apparently popular fish name xD), Quicksilver and Bolt. The girls are Tasha, Kira and T'Ana. It took me a few days to learn the differences between my hillstream loaches, their names are Dax, Tal, Sec, Hei and Bai. I also have purple snail Leela, blue snail Shran, and to yellow ones, Wolf and Donna. Filter shrimp is named Sigma. The ramshorn snails are colectively named Pixie dynasty. Cherry and Amano shrimps have no names.

I have a serpae tetra that's missing an eye. It's name is Jack (as in "One-eyed Jack" in a deck of playing cards).

That reminds me of a danio I had named Blitzkrieg because he would just suddenly zip around from seemingly nowhere when it was feeding time lol

I tried naming my albino corys, but it's just too hard to keep track of who is who.

I wouldn’t have thought of naming as group—good idea for schools!

I still protest the decision on Pluto, so i still have to have 9 to be called the Planets.

If there’s a Pygmy version of those fish and they could be the dwarf planets too.

I have 12 WCMMs and I can tell 3 apart from the rest and they all have names lol. When I only had 5 I could tell them all apart. Now the group is called the Mariachis and the three are Tres, Cuatro, and Cinco.

I name creatures that are easy to tell apart. I've had a Betta named Saul Goodman, common goldfish named Scott & Joe, a Tetra of some sort (it was a rescue from horrible conditions & I'd not owned fish in years, so I didn't know what it was) named Tito Salamanca, I had a Mystery snail named Gustavo Fring. When I have creatures that look the same, I call them all one thing. My current shrimp are all named Rick Sanchez. I call their tank The Citadel of Ricks. All of my gold Mystery snails are named Morty. I have a Zebra Nerite named Zebra Morty and a Red Racer Nerite named Houdini. Granted, I'm prone to naming a lady bug in my kitchen.

This is the best example of giving a group of animals the same name I've ever seen.

And I forgot to add that I have 2 amano shrimp named Rick C-137 because they were my original shrimp, all other shrimp died off for different reasons and had to be replaced. Clearly, I'm a bit of a Rick and Morty fan

And as you might have noticed in my post above, half of my animals have Star Trek names, so I'm certainly not the one to judge

My school of tiger barbs... Barbara, Barb, Barbie, Steve, Phil, Ear, Cheerio, Karen, Susan, Kathy, Debbie, and Shannon. Some of the females like to hang out together and I call them the Soccer Mom Squad.

I barely rmember the names of my bettas. I would be up a creek without a paddle if i started naming other fish.

Though whenever we have livebearer get pregnant in our house, we ALWAYS call her Big Bertha.

It’s not really naming them because I don’t remember it but if I catch a fish at a pond I call it Timmy or Jeff.
