White Spots On Plecos Belly

HI everyone, I have a pleco who has gotten some odd white patterns on her belly the past few days. She has also been acting a bit weird, suddenly surfing back and forth on the glass very quickly which she hasn’t done before, as well as resting in spots of the tank that just aren’t that usual for her. I noticed a little white spot near one of her fins two days ago that I hadn’t seen there before, but figured it was just something that was already there. After checking her today I noticed there are several white patches on her belly- that I don’t really see anywhere else in her. I can’t tell if they are just a change in coloring or a fungus/other thing of some sort? Do you think they are dangerous? Should I do something to treat them? What could be causing them? Sorry if the photos are blurry,

Here’s the pictures: had to crop so because I was being told the file was too large

HI FlowFish,

Sorry to hear about your pleco being sick :/. What are you water parameters? Id suggest filling out the "Fish Emergency Template" located at the top of the freshwater fish disease page as it would make it easier to solve the problem.

I not too confident to give you a definite answer but have you looked into the disease 'ick' ? Its a parasitic disease that irritates the host. I hope somebody else can chime in about this as well since I can't really tell looking at your photoes.

Are there any new decorations in your tank? It almost appears to be scrapes from rubbing against things. Not an illness pro so following to hear what others have to say.

My passed Common Pleco, Percy, was always getting into scrapes and being naughty, he used to grip & hug the casing that covered the impeller on the underside of the filter, he would also wriggle about on it to make it slide down the glass....til I cable tied it to the top of the aquarium. He used to get like suction marks on his belly from that but they would fade within 24-48 hours and never broke the skin

Thank you all so much for your replies. For tank parameters, I doubt they’re too good. I’ve been trying and trying to get the tank cycled but I’m having difficulties. I had it cycled at a time but it seems to have fallen out of the cycle. I keep on top of water changes though so the nitrates are probably not too high, and I’ve started treating with amgaurd when I noticed ammonia show up, so hopefully that’s keeping the ammonia at bay... I went ahead and treated with EM ethromyacin(if I spelled that right?) Incase it was a fungus or something, since I didn’t have any ick medications on hand. She’s way more skittish than usual. For a pleco, she’s not that shy I don’t think. Like she’s pretty comfortable being out in the open with the light on and with a lot of traffic going by the tank (there’s rarely ever been a ton of traffic, but point being she’s not too skittish of a fish). But just a few minutes ago when I walked by the tank to check her and she saw me, she happened to be in a corner at the time, she swam pretty hard into the side of the tank. She seems okay now (is there anything I ca do to make sure she didn’t hurt herself?) but I’m worried that she might ram into another fish or hurt herself with how easily spooked she’s being right now.

I’ve gone ahead and turned off the light in her tank and in the room, and covered the front of her tank with a blanket, hopefully to keep stress down.
