So i am treating my 75gal for flukes which i started on thursday and today i noticed my oranda and fantail both have white spots on their tails now. My 2 black moors have no spots and neither do any of the babies. They are acting normal. Ammo is 0 nitrite is 0 nitrate 30-40 (20 out of tap) ph 8.2-4. Its not ich (its not 3D, doesnt look like salt) does anyone know what it could be or why? And why did they just appear after i started prazi pro? Thanks

Are you sure it's not ich? Are the fish new? It could possibly be carp pox, though I want to rule everything else out first.

It's a bit hard to see what your talking about on the computer... Maybe you could circle them so we know where and what we are looking at.

Also, remember, right now your fish are stressed, and stressed fish are very susceptible to infection. I'm really thinking it's ich. I'm pretty sure prazipro works for ich as well as flukes, so as long as you continue treatment and keep the water as clean as possible you should be good. I'm not super sure, I've never used prazi before, so you should check to make sure it treats ich, if not, salt will probably be our best bet. And keep up water changes!

Ok, also just now noticing the nitrate...that could likely be a factor as well. You may want to look at purchasing a nitrate lowering product or live plants (I highly recommend anacharis, hornwort, and java fern for newer plant keepers, those are all pretty much are goldfish proof.) Nitrate can definitely be an issue, and it's all the more difficult to keep under control when you have it to start out with.

Im pretty sure its ich as well. Just weird hes the only one with spots. The meds must have stressed him out. I used to have hornwort and anacharis but they got taken out by bba. I have a small amount of pothos in the tank right now. Also prazi doesnt work for ich so i will need to get meds prob. I dont have the right heater so cant increase temp. And i have had salt in the tank already prior to treatment. U think i should do a large water change and start the ich treatment after the prazi?
