White spindle like growth

I was trying to cycle my tank. I got everything set but the pH was low so I added some crushed coral to the bottom. However, after I added the crushed coral some white spindle like things started growing all over the tank. It doesn't look like algae or mold but i'm not sure what else it could be. There are no fish in the water yet so I don't think it's anything harmful but I would still like to know what it is. Here is a picture of what it looks like. Anyone? 2012-12-12_19-31-19_302.jpg2012-12-12_19-31-33_411.jpg

Hello and SantaWelcome.gif to Fish Lore!

Hopefully you will receive some responses today. I do not think it is unusual to see a build up of white scum (possibly a type of algae) in newly set up aquariums. You should be able to just wipe it off. As the tank matures, it will be rare that you see this type again.

It could be a build up of detritus from your tap water.
