White Slimey Film On Plastic Tubing In My Tank???

I typed my title into the Search Fishlore and there were zero results. I hope I haven't created a new form of aquarium sludge!!! I should have taken a picture but my immediate thought was "get that stuff outta my tank!" Has anyone encountered this before? What is it? Thankfully I just set the tank up and I haven't added any fish.

I noticed it on one of my sponge filter air lines. Only guess is maybe snail slime.

If its clear its probably from snails.

I don't have snails of which I'm aware. The slime floated in the tank in small bits ... it looks like egg whites that are just starting to solidify in a hot frypan.

Bio slime grows like mad on some silicone tubing.
I see a lot of it in my tanks if I don't wipe down the air tubes.

Possible fungi. Double check your maintenance schedule. Is it possible that you are over feeding?

I second the idea of snail eggs.... those little snails can hide pretty good... first you don't have them, then soon that's all you can see...

People sometimes get this. It could be a type of algae, or it could be from whatever water conditioner you use. Stress Coat is kind of know for this. Stress Coat contains aloe and the aloe can build up on items in the water.

Most likely it is nothing to be worried about. If it's in the inside of your tubing that can be little pockets of algae or even beneficial bacteria. This is both good. If you had a bacteria or algae bloom it would be a thick coat on everything in your aquarium, this would also most likely not be immediately harmful to your fish just ugly
