White scales on fish

Apersau1

Hello everyone

my rainbow shark has developed within a couple of days white things across its body looking like white scales and the fins are resembling fin rot.

I cannot find anything for how to treat. Does anyone recognize this?

Photo attached.

I started a salt treatment in the tank today. Hoping it survives someone’s help.

Looks like fin rot or even a fungal infection. Is that fish in a 1 gallon bowl?

I moved it to a 1gAllon to take the picture. It’s right now back in the community tank

Looks like a bacterial infection to me. Might try dosing Melafix.

Thanks. I’m in Canada so antibiotics are unavailable. I will enquire about melofix at my local pet store.

can it be used with the salt treatment? And should I change the temperature. Currently my temperature is 77oF

I never recommend aquarium specific antibiotics. They rarely cure and can damage the aquarium environment.
Melafix should be available in Canada. It's a herbal remedy with antiseptic / antibiotic properties.
Your temperature is fine & salt shouldn't be a factor.

Hello all,

I am doing a melafix and Pimafix treatment right now which was going for four days now.

the good news is that my rainbow shark looks better.

Bad news, it still has a skin condition. See attached photo for the red rash. Anyone can help identify what it is?

Thank you all for your advice

It seems like the fish is getting out of it.

I still have this odd ammonia spike. But trying to manage it with reduced feeding, ammolock and reseeding. I hope that helps, but if anyone has advise on that, I welcome it.
