So I have hard tap water at my place which makes it really hard for me to keep the tank clean. Ive done the vinegar solution but doing it every day is just too hard. And other solution? Does it effect the fish that its hard water? (have no water parameters) it makes the tank look really bad so that's why I don't like having it. Any ideas?

Do you have to use the vinegar every day? I find that if I get any residue at all, as long as I get it before it gets really hard and layered, I can just swipe it off with one of those rectangular dish scrubber pads. I cut mine into quarters because I only need a little pad to do the job, dip it in tank water and wipe off anything that needs removing.

Yes. I do water changes everyday or every other day. And clean it off with vinegar when I'm doing it. But after about 4 to 6 hours it starts forming again.

Does it form on every surface or just at the top of the water in the evaporation zone?

The hood is made of wood so I can't really see it. But it is present on the led that's above it and its less on the led though. Its due to evaporation.

In that case I would just give it a swipe with a scrubber pad dipped in tank water every day. It should still be moist and not so built up as to need vinegar soaks or major elbow grease

Thank you. Seems a lot of work to do it daily. Wish I had soft water. Hard water has ruined my hair too

Oh, I thought you were doing the vinegar thing every day anyway! Well, not every day then, but as often as you think of it. You could just keep a cup with the scrubber in it and give it a swipe when you think of it.

Rinse your hair with white vinegar. Used to do that on the farm. Works wonders

Another question. I used methylene blue in the whole tank which I figured I'm not supposed to. And now the silicon and the tank walls seem bluish. Can I get that out of is it perm?

It's permanent though it may fade a bit in time, the meth blue may also have wiped out your beneficial bacteria, I'd keep a close eye on your water parameters for a while
