White patch under bettas eye

HI all, so about a month ago, I added a new betta to my 5 gallon aquarium, his name is Kratos. I got him from Petco the day they brought him in. He is very active and peaceful, have never seen him flare and shares his lovely planted tank with 4 Amano shrimp and a Mystery Snail. He loves swimming and and exploring. He has a mouth deformity, but that just makes him a bit extra special. Has no trouble eating or going up for air. A week or so ago, I noticed he has a white patch around his eye. He doesn't seem bothered by it... but could he be hiding any pain or symptoms? He has no loss of appetite, loss of color, loss of energy, nothing. My water parameters are all 0, PH around 7... any Ideas?

I don’t see a white patch in the pictures, but I’ll take your word for it.

Nice looking betta btw.

I know people are probably getting sick of me saying this, but it couldn’t hurt to treat with some melafix. It’s been my go-to med for a few years now, and I haven’t lost a fish to an illness since. If you want, you can use bettafix, which is essentially the same thing, but I’m not sure if there’s a price difference.

Melafix can sometimes be dangerous for labyrinth fish. However I know I can always half the dosage. I also have indian almonds leaves I keep forgetting to add. My PH is already a little below 7... like a 6.8. Will adding the leaves make the PH go down even more and become dangerous? I use fluval stratum.

Indian almond leaves are good option, natural antibiotics like honey. Steady, non-ideal pH is better than fluctuating one, fishes can adjust it to better.

The leaves will maybe drop your pH by .5, I’ve never seen a significant drop in pH with almond leaves, but alder cones to tend to drop pH.

Assuming your kH is higher than 3 then the leaves won't do much to alter the pH.

The lighter patch looks ok to me but its a good idea to keep an eye on it. Maybe keep a written record of if it changes or if he begins to act differently.
