I've had some fish that had this (Rosey Barbs) and Priscilla tetras. It's nasty. I just took them out and euthanized them because the end result and suffering is not fun. They'll lose their mouth eventually and they can't eat even though they want to. It's tough to watch.

Others here might say treatment but I didn't do that. The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few.

Two of my Coloumbians recently had cotton mouth. Dosed the whole tank with erithromyacin and raised the temp a bit, gone after a few days.

No, not really. If the ich attach is malachite or victoria or analine green then it would be helpful alongside Methylene blue like what you find in Betta Revive. You don't have methyelene blue do you? You could start with the ich attack if it contains one of the green ingredients I mentioned and see how it works alone, otherwise I'd get one of the medicines above I mentioned.

I agree with CindiL with the meds. I will caution not to play the "medicine roulette" game for long bc this will make the fish suffer as another poster above mentions, and since you know what to use, please treat with the right medicines. Columnaris can manifest this way on the mouth. Kanamycin and furanol together, full tank as all will end up with this and do the full treatments. Salt baths will also help aid in healing.
