I have been sick for a week so haven't noticed this until now. Looked into the tank and saw my Dwarf Gourami with large white lump/mass sticking through his scales. Couldn't diagnose it myself. Just treated the tank with one round of API General Cure. Moved a black platy out of the tank that was causing minor stress. Please help. I'm not sure if I can do anything else besides GC and waiting, but would be nice to know more info. Really like this pretty fish. Pictures attached. Planning to do a water change tomorrow, its midnight here right now.

Haven’t seen anything like this before, is the scales sticking out like dropsy? It’s 12 am here and I’m doing wc on both my 10 gallons, haven’t been keeping up at all.

Looks like it hit something got cut and now has a fungus growing on the cut. Me I would remove from tank. Put in hospital tank and treat it by itself. Raise tank to 80* and add a teaspoon of salt to each gal of water. Or buy one of the fungal meds and treat as instructed.

I agree with @ssinit looks like an injury that is infected.

Anything like this should be treated with caution.
Isolate the fish, use gloves and keep everything clean and sterile.
There are some fish diseases that can be transferred to people.
Be careful.

Look into lymphcystis ...

Thank you all for your comments and suggestions. I have isolated in a 5 gallon tank and treated it with general cure. It doesn't appear to be dropsy, as the rest of the scales seem fine. I have noticed a few, much smaller white spots on his body (nothing grown though like the first), so it might be lymphcystis like coralbandit suggested.

Would there be any harm in adding salts for fungus just to be safe? What type of salt should I use? I've heard people mention Epsom salts for fungus...

Did you ever get to the bottom of this? i.e. Identify what caused the problem.

How is the Dwarf Gourami doing? Did he recover?
