White lines on Betta fish’s Operculum

Hi!

I’ve had my betta fish for almost a month now, he’s in a filtered, heated 3 gal tank and he’s been showing signs of happiness (making bubbles, being active, etc.) I got him a mirror toy to play with for 5 minutes throughout the week, and when I did that today I noticed a white line on my betta’s operculum? Is this normal? I’m worried that he might be stressed.

It might just be him marbling (changing color). I wouldn’t be too concerned.

His tank is usually around 79-80. I haven’t gotten a kit to test any of those yet but I will now! I’ll report back once I get it done, thank you!

Any tank, any size, any fish, shrimp, snail, living thing. So, yeah.

There are great articles and how to's on this forum. It's NOT rocket surgery, but you do need to have the test kit so you know where the nitrogen cycle is at.

Your betta may be fine now but make no mistake, he will get sick if you don't learn how to properly cycle his tank and do regular water changes.

Read those articles and learn about the cycle. Get your hands on an API test kit (not the strips) and ask questions as they arise.

What is your betta's name?

Well how smart would you have to be to operate on a rocket?
