White Fuzzy Patch On Betta's Fin

As the title says, there's a fuzzy white patch on the tip of my betta's ventral fin. I've just noticed it today

Tank


Maintenance
  • 30-40% water change 1-2 per week, treat with Tetra aquasafe
  • Gravel vac once or twice per week

Parameters
I use strips so these might not be super accurate
Ammonia: 0
Nitrite: 0
Nitrate: 10-15
pH: 7
Hardness: ~100
Alkalinity: less than 40

Feeding
  • A pinch of Fluval bug bites or 3-5 Betta bio gold pellets twice per day
  • 3-5 Freeze dried blood worms a few times per week

Illness & Symptoms
  • He's a little over a year old
  • Had symptom for about a day
  • Small white fuzzy patch on the tip of his left ventral fin
  • The tip of his fin is dull brown, looks withered
  • Still eating and swimming normally
  • Have started 30% daily water changes, no meds or salt (yet)

Almost any time a white fuzzy growth is located at the end tip of a fin, its a fungus that has attached itself to dead or damaged tissue. Its probably just a minor fin rip. No worries.

I agree with above. If it gets worse or doesn't go away after about a week then maybe try erythromycin.
