White "fuzz" on my betta's ventral fin?

Hello! I've noticed white fuzzy looking things on my betta's ventral fins for a few days now. Can anyone help me figure out what it is? Is this a cause for concern and is there a way to remove the "fuzz" from his fins?

Fuzz can often indicate a fungus of some type. Can't tell if thats what it is in the pics.

Fungus, bacteria and viruses are everywhere, all around us all the time. They are in your tank. That 's normal. The infection is usually opportunistic. It occurs when the conditions are right for it. In fish, stress can be the culpret. Stress can be caused by many things like physical or chemical injury / irritation, too much light, harrassment from other fish, overcrowding, shipping, etc, etc.

I was actually wondering if it could be whatever is lying on his rocks. He enjoys digging and I haven't deep cleaned his rocks in a bit. Some of them have things that look like the fuzz on him. I also dusted last week and was wondering if dust could have fallen in without me knowing? I'm deep cleaning the rocks today once I have time to. Are my theories a bit out there or are these actually possibilities?

It might be the stuff at the bottom. One of my bettas sometimes ended up with biofilm on his ventrals, and I often saw something string-like when I used a certain type of spring water. Will he tolerate your hand being near him? If so, try to wipe it off, and then see what happens...

I could try, though he tends to be a bit jumpy unless he's trying to take a chunk out of my finger XD
Sooo... that stressed him out too much he turned pale and started shaking so after five seconds I was like "Nope!" And gave him pellets as a peace offering. I feel bad, but the fuzz fell off in the process of me trying to get it off

Hey, bacterial growth is highly caused by imperfect water conditions. I suggest aquarium salt, and vacuuming the gravel nice and good. You could add in a partial water change. Epsom salt is also great at bacteria killing, so you could try an Epsom bath. Lastly, bacteria such as what I believe to be columunaris, forms on sores, earlier fin rot could be why it's attacking that specific area.
For that, I suggest either API fin and body, or API Betta fix.
Actually, I believe it's called cotton wool bacterial growth!

Oh, okay! Well I would rather it be bacterial growth than fungal since bacteria is a lot easier to get rid of!

Well, it might be fungus, but treatment is the same as I suggested. Good luck!

Sorry that stressed him...some bettas get so used to their parent/owner that they tolerate the hand in the water. Breeders will take pics of their bettas laying in their hands, even. But I am glad that it fell off, which would indicate that it wasn't anything to worry about, IMO. :)

Haha, one of my Bettas does that to! She's a very aggressive eater, and actually, one time when I stuck my hand in, she suctioned to it and was stuck for less than a second!
