White Film On Water. More Circulation?

I have a 75 Gallon Freshwater cichlid tank. I have a Cascade 1000 canister(295gph) with the intake located on the right corner.. and the output located at the left corner.. I also have a power head (300gph) on the right side of the tank. It's located on the top of the water. It reaches about 75% across the tank.. however on the far left side of the tank there is a white film that always comes back even if I siphon it.. I have read that it's due to not enough water agitation.. however I can't find anywhere online as a fix for this. I also have been told not to put too much circulation or water agitation in the tank due to stress for the fish. What can I do to fix this? Thanks.

I had the same problem.. I have a low turbulence tank.. there's plenty of oxygenation but the surface is only about half agitated from the spray bar on one side.

$13 can solve your problem... Add a surface skimmer to the intake tube. Got one at my local non-big-box pet supply store. It's a floating cup that attaches to the intake tube. You can find them online too. Made all the difference and now I not only have no surface film there, but I'm circulating water from that area of the tank.

Here's the one I got:

Joey (King of DIY) on YouTube has a DIY video for this, if you wanted to go for the cheapest route hahaha. It is a good idea though

I just added an air stone to help my tanks with this problem. I haven’t had the problem since.

Oh yes biofilm. I used to get this. I’m pretty sure it was coming from my frozen food. Paper towels and netting it didn’t work. Output from canister just stacked it up more or less on one side of the aquarium. Installed a Seachem tidal, which I run as 100% surface skimmer. Issue disappeared and never came back.
