White film all over adf's body

Hello and thank you for any help.

I have an adf problem I've never read about before. I can't identify the disease.

About a month ago my African Dwarf Frogs all of a sudden developed this white film all over their bodies. The white film is about 1/32 of an inch. It's highly aggressive and infectious to other adf's. It covers their whole bodies, including their mouth, and attaches itself to everything else in the tank.

After a lot of research and reading (pathetically none of it on actual adf diseases) I found this fungus thrives in lower temp. and light. So I blacked out my tank and slowly turned up the water temp. to 90. I added Fungus Guard and T.C. -Pro.

In 2 days the whole problem seemed to be gone so I started making w/c back to normal and decreasing the temp.
Some 3 weeks later the whole problem started again!

Has anyone experienced this? Do you have a name for it and more important the cause?

What I'm mostly afraid of is this fungus will adapt to the meds I've used. Rendering them ineffective.

Welcome to FishLore!!

I'm sorry your frog is worrying you.

Are you sure they are not shedding?
If they don't eat them the sheds can get stuck on decorations, drift to the bottom or float.

Do you know the readings for ammonia, nitrite and nitrate?

How high was the temp that it was lowered to 90...that's 90F?

yeah, and it happens about once a month, when I first saw it, I was scared to death, and it turns out they were just shedding.

It has nothing to do with my sick frogs that are in a completely different tank.

0 ammonia/ 0 nitrite/ 10 nitrate. Long established filters - 4 or so years.

Tank temp. usually 78-80 but raised it to 90 temporarily to kill the fungus.

I've kept adf's for a couple years. I know what a normal shed looks like. And, like ghardin, the first time I saw it I thought the frog was having an epileptic seizure!

This white fungus covers their whole body, including mouth. It's about 1/32th of an inch thick. It never goes away but spreads very quickly. Like the pic of the jar. All that cloudiness came off the frog. It only took about 12 hours for there to be this much slimy stuff in the water.

It isn't Chytrid either. Their skin appears to be intact with this film all over. Chytrid is a constant shedding of tiny bits of dead skin.

That's very odd.
Sorry, I can't be of any help.
I have not idea what it is.

Tried to find any pic on the internet that shows the slime on dwarfs.
None on adf's. The ones on fish weren't quite right either.
I did find one that is close. Except for the spiky stuff. On the dwarfs it's spherical.

It starts on the dwarfs. Everything else in the tank looks normal.
Then there's an outbreak - the plants, filter, gravel, tank walls all look like this plant in 2 days.
