White Convict Cichlid Laid Eggs.

Today at 9:45 pm my convict cichlid layed eggs on a flat stone enclosed by a small house. I tried to move the house to capture the picture but the male bit me. I will post the pictures later.
The female convict is fanning on the eggs and the male guarding them.
Really very excited to see the fries.

In how many days will they hatch ?
Typically, around 3-4 days.

Are you sure they were eaten? unless you actually witnessed the spawning and know when the eggs were layed, they could very well have have hatched and been moved.

but first timers will occasionally eat their eggs...
convicts are excellent parents when they know how, they'll spawn again... if the eggs actually are gone.

I looked into their house but they just disappeared. I hope they will spawn again.
Maybe a month ?

They'll probably spawn again in as few as a couple of days to a couple of weeks.

Five 97, today I saw the eggs. The female is fanning on the eggs and the male is patrolling around it.

A little update. 2/3rd of the eggs got eaten by the male convict. I am very sad about them.

don't worry, you have a factory of convicts there. my couple pink female and the black one kept trying to have babies. at the beginning the male would chase the female away from the eggs. they would hatch, lots of fry and probably the female or the male would eat them. now after so many months I have a generation of convicts, around 7 survide.they live all together in my 26 g bow front tank. when the female gets all orange around her belly I know it is time for new babies, but ever since the 1st generation grew up I did not see any more fry around.

and btw, convicts prefer sand because they like to dig in it and rearrange the decor to their liking.
