White bump on corys mouth

Does anyone know what this could possibly be? This white bump has suddenly appeared on this panda corys upper mouth area.

 

That looks like a developing injury due to the corse gravel, you really need something softer for them, its natural for then to dig around but with that gravel you start to see some with their wiskers damaged or missing

 

I have sand ordered. Just waiting for them to ship it! I first started a planted tank with the coarse gravel and no corys. Later on bought a few corys and fell in love . I believe I will still be able to grow the plants I have in a sand substrate with some root tabs and some liquid fertilization. The corys will be much happier for sure. So if this is an injury should I take the fish out and medicate it? Or just wait to see if it gets better or worse?

Think your diagnosis was spot on Richie.

 

Should I be doing anything about it or leaving it alone?

 

I'd leave it for now and try and get the sand in ASAP,

 

I will keep an eye on it!

 

If it gets worse or becomes an open wound then think about medication, if others start to show the same then think about getting that substrate out and leave a bare bottom

 

Or start making a sandbeach.
