White blobs on found driftwood

I recently found a piece of really nice driftwood by the river near my house, it was on the shore but I made sure it was safe wood and I’m 90% sure it is. It was covered with dirt when I found it so I brushed it with a toothbrush and washed it with the hose, but it still has these little white blond on it. They’re tiny, maybe 1-2mm in diameter and they’re all over the piece of wood. Does anyone know what they are?
Also Just to make sure the wood is safe I’m attaching pictures of the tree I found it by. Thanks!

They remind me of nerite eggs but those shouldn't be in a river in the usa. Perhaps some other sort of snail? Likely won't hatch if the wood was dried out.

Ok, is there a way I can get them off ? scrubbing didn’t work. Do u think a putty knife might?

How long did the piece of wood soak?
You may want to try and cook the driftwood.
Even if it does not remove the white spots, at least it would kill whatever is living on the piece. Elm or Beech? Can you make a picture of a leaf?

A putty knife should work or any time of scraper. You could also sand them off if youre worried about cutting up the wood.

I attached a picture of the leaves it’s not super clear but you can definitely see the shape. I was thinking it was red alder but it doesn’t have cones especially since it’s early fall. :/
I’ve been soaking it for 3 days now. I was planning to boil it after soaking for a few days. My mom might not be a fan of me boiling wood in one of her pots, would pouring boiling water over it a few times work as well?

I’ll try that today or tomorrow thanks!

Tell your mom that cooking a piece of wood won't ruin her pots....
Soaking it for some time to get it water logged, then cook it for a couple of hours to get the water in the wood to a bug killing temperature. You probably can bake it as well.
Good luck, keep us posted, curious how it will turn out in your tank.

Update!
Its been soaking since saturday AM and is almost fully waterlogged, just the tip is floating!
I scraped off the white blobs with a putty knife but I was also able to scape off a really thin layer of wood, is that bad? it couldve also been dirt, it was hard to tell. But i think it wasnt dirt since it had been soaking for a few days and probably would’ve come off by now?
I also scrubbed it really well with an old toothbrush and its clean now! I changed the water in the bucket and itll soak until I have a chance to boil it.
If anyone knows what type of wood it is pls let me know, Im still not 100% sure and i want to make sure its aquarium safe before i put it in the tank.

The picture is too blurry to make a determination. If you can get a couple of leaves flattened, and get a picture of the tree bark, that will help. Otherwise it is just guess work.

Ok, I’ll try to find a better picture, I don’t go to that part of the river often.

This is a picture of a tree that i think is the same type as the other one. I found the driftwood really close to it

I just cropped this one that i already posted but you can see the leaves a lot better now.

Not sure if u can see the bark super well in this it’s just a cropped version of the one i posted before. Didn’t really have bark ?
