Which to try?

Hi.

I am wanting to try another 5G tank once my 5.5G is up and running, but I'm wanting to try one of the following:

(or the 2.5)

The point of this thread is for feedback on the two listed tanks. What are your experiences with them? Pros and Cons? Are the filters adequate for the tank? Should I even try one or the other?

Thanks!

I vote hex. I love my Hex5, and so do all the fish that have lived in it. Marineland has a good filtration and lighting system as well. A CFL bulb in that hood is more than enough to plant the tank if you like.

The one main drawback to the Hex is that the biowheel likes to stop turning. I'm probably going to replace it with other media in the next few weeks.

Never had a tank that small but I vote for the bowfront just because I have a 50 gallon BF tank and I love the look of it!

I have a Fluval Spec V that is so vastly superior to any other 5 gallon tank I have ever seen or researched I think the higher price is totally appropriate. It is also vastly superior to any of the other Fluval tanks I have seen.

The filter is enclosed in a discrete compartment on one end that includes space to place two different kinds of filter media of your choosing. it comes with bio-rings and some carbon sticks (not sure what these are as I removed them and placed more bio-rings). The mechanical filter sponge is huge and completely envelopes the sections for the other media. The filter compartment also has space for a heater, so it is not actually in your tank. The filter is so quiet, well I can't hear it.

The light is the right spectrum for plants and low light plants grow well in it. The whole thing is very stylish in my opinion and the long slender design shows off fish well. It is very well constructed.

I usually have something bad to say just about anything, in this case the only thing is the price which I paid $75 for. By the way I have a Fluval ChI of my sister's here and it is a complete piece of junk, so different Fluval stuff varies quite a bit in quality.

Oh and it fits on my cluttered desk. I have betta tanks anywhere they could possibly fit in my house.

Thank you for all the input. I believe that I will have to go out and get a 5G Hex sometime soon

I've seen the Fluval Spec V on occasions but I just don't have the money to pay for it. I'd love to have it one day, but until then I'll go with a 5G Hex.
