Which tank and filter should I get for a betta?

HI everyone!
Okay so I'm getting my first betta in the fall and I'm really excited! I already had my tank picked out, it was a Marina 5 gallon starter kit with a Marina slI'm s15 filter. However, as I did more and more research I realized that the Fluval spec V or this 5.5 gallon all-glass-aquarium tank might also work well. I was wondering:
1. If you guys had any experience with any of these tanks and which one you would recommend

2. Which filter you would recommend if I were to get the All-glass-aquarium tank

Also as a side-note:
3. Is there any difference between TSS+ and Seachem stability

Thank you so much for the help!

P.S. I hope I put this in the right section...I'm kinda new to Fishlore

Welcome to the forum!

With either tank, you'll want to make sure you have a heater as well, especially since you'll be housing a betta, but beyond that, I don't have specific experience with either tank.

As to the Stability vs. TSS question, both are similar, in that they are bottled beneficial bacteria. TSS basically you put into the tank and then don't do anything to the tank for 2 weeks. Stability is a daily additive for a week. I have not used TSS, but I know many people here have used it religiously to start tanks with great success, you just have to really follow the directions on the bottle. Stability lets you do things like monitor tank parameters and water changes while it is doing its thing, so it's really which you prefer to use.

Okay thanks! I was planning on getting a Hydor 25w heater.

Awesome! Also I'm really happy to see you doing all the research before getting it all together

Thank you! I just want to give it the best possible home! Also, does that mean that even though you have to do a little more work with Stability, it will cycle the tank faster than TSS?

Thank you for not considering a 1 gallon bowl! Your fish will live more comfortably with more room. Just don't over crowd the substrate with decor, they'll need to swim down there without tearing their fins.

I don't have experience with either tank but I would go with the 5.5 gallon. Remember the heater, filter, decor will take up space so that extra half gallon will come in handy.

Yeah, that's the one I was leaning towards. If I were to go with that one do you (or anyone else) have a filter that you would recommend for bettas? I know a lot of people say that sponge filters are good, but I would really prefer a power filter.

I just have a filter that came with a kit on mine, nothing overly fancy, and then I have it baffled with some fake plants. I'm sure there are far better filters out there. I have been happy with the Aqueon Quietflows.

Any adjustable flow filter. They can't swim well with high current. I have a hob tetra filter for a 10 gallon. Theres a knob on top that changes to hI and low as needed. I keep it on medium-low to accommodate the size of my tank without disturbing the betta.
