Which of these quotes do you prefer? If you do not like these quotes perhaps post your own and if I like it I will add it to the poll.

Also the last two were cut off here they are:

A hundred times I wanted to kill myself, but always I loved life more. This ridiculous weakness is perhaps one of our worst instincts; is anything more stupid than choosing to carry a burden that really one wants to cast on the ground? to hold existence in horror, and yet to cling to it? to fondle the serpent which devours us till it has eaten out our heart? —In the countries through which I have been forced to wander, in the taverns where I have had to work, I have seen a vast number of people who hated their existence; but I never saw more than a dozen who deliberately put an end to their own misery.

[W]hen they were not arguing, the boredom was so fierce that one day the old woman ventured to say: —I should like to know which is worse, being raped a hundred times by negro pirates, having a buttock cut off, running the gauntlet in the Bulgar army, being flogged and hanged in an auto-da-fé, being dissected and rowing in the galleys—experiencing, in a word, all the miseries through which we have passed—or else just sitting here and doing nothing? —It’s a hard question, said Candide. These words gave rise to new reflections, and Martin in particular concluded that man was bound to live either in convulsions of misery or in the lethargy of boredom.

Well, it's sort of a sports quote, but: "You will always miss 100% of the shots you don't take". I don't think it's what you're looking for, though.

This is one I used as my signature and have seen in several ways, but it sounded good every time I heard it:

Live your Life with Confidence and you will go far. Learn to have Patience with all people, most of all yourself. Love your chosen companion with all your heart and soul as though your very life depends upon it. Practice your chosen profession with all the Passion of one fascinated with each task. BUT over and above ALL these things, remember to stop each day and take time for the SMALL JOYS life has to give, for they are what make your soul sing.

I used this in various forms in the greeting cards I make. Small snippets of it are appropriate for different times.
I don't know the original thought producer, but MANY people have written versions of this, including me. The above one does not happen to be mine. It is anonymous.

One of my favourite quotes, apart from ones from Shakespeare etc, is "Dream and your dreams will fall short." It means "You can't possibly imagine all the wonderful things that will happen to you in the future."
