Which loach is right for my tank?

I currently have a semi-aggressive tank with a few tiger barbs and cherry barbs and I am interested in adding YoYo's or possibly angelicus loaches but I would like to know if they would coexist peacefully in a tank with them. If not, which type of loaches probably would? Thanks.

 

I have both of those species of loach and I think the Yoyos would be best for your set-up because they are more active and visible, but heres the problem..... both loaches get to be 5 inches or larger and you need at least 3 of them. that would over stock your tank. If you do get them you will have to be very careful to do water changes regularly as loaches are very sensitive to water quality. I love my yoyos they play around in and out of the rocks and plants while the angelicus are more hidden.

I see. I plan to ultimately have 6 tigers and 6 cherries in my current set-up but I was hoping I could fit in a few loaches too. Maybe instead I will get one of the smaller pleco's and that will be in for the tank. 12 barbs and 1 small pleco sounds like it wouldn't be pushing it for a 20 gal. I could get a 30 gallon later on, have only a few fish that don't need to be kept in schools and for that one I can start keeping loaches. I know this, when the time comes to get loaches, I am definitely going with the yoyo's now.

 

Botia striata is also a great little loach, they stay about 4 inches but mine are growing very slowly. They go like their hyped on caffeine all the time They are sold in the stores as zebra loach. Here are mine

Ah, beautiful zebra loaches! I like the yoyo just a tad better. Okay, I am in love with loaches now.

 

LOL! It's not hard to fall in love with Loaches, Most are very active and interactive also. MY clown loaches and kuhlis eat from my hands. I also have Striata, Angelicus, yoyos, striped and black kuhlis, hillstreams, skunk loaches, so you see I'm already hooked.
