I have 4 Red Eye Tetras and am wondering what cleaner fish/shrimp/ etc is compatible with them? I've added some ghost shrimps on different occasions...they've all disappeared. I've added an algae eater...he/she got a bruise and died. I've added a couple of catfishes...looks like someone nipped at their tails and they eventually died.

What size tank do you have? This is more of a consideration than the interaction between the tetras and the bottom-feeders (though this must also be taken into account).

Also, tetras need to be kept in schools of 6 or more or they become nippy. So if your tank is large enough you should add at least 2 more. If not, you may want to consider rehoming your tetras.

You might want to check out this link before considering a bottom feeder/cleaner: https://www.fishlore.com/profile-redeyetetra.htm

They are in a 10 gallon tank.

The only catfish that will fit in a 10 gallon are pygmy cats, and the tetras need a larger tank as well. It's very likely that their aggression is amplified from stress, due to being in too small of a tank. If it is feasible for you to upgrade, I would definitely recommend it.

I would suggest adding 1 more Red Eye Tetra making it 5, if you are not getting anymore fish then I would add 2 making it a species only tank unless you upgrade tanks.

The best method is : feeding appropriate measures + weekly water changes.
