Lately there's been mention of different brands of water tests.

1) Which brand do you use?
2) Do you like it/would you recommend it?
3) Why did you choose that water test brand?

** I made this poll public. I figured that way, if someone has a question about a particular kit, they'll know who they can address it to (if they don't get an answer on the forum, maybe they can send a PM).

I edited your title to match your thread. Hope you don't mind!

I use API.
I like it.
I chose it because members of this forum recommended it to me. Until I found this forum, I didn't even realize I would need my own test kit.

ApI liquid test
I use it just because my lfs carries mostly API. It's an accurate test kit. I really like it and I recommend it.

1. API Master Test Kit
2. Aside from the Nitrate #2 bottle, which usually results in a temporarily numb hand from banging it to death, I love it and highly recommend it.
3. I chose it because it was the most highly recommended brand.

I don't own a test kit, but I used to. Couldn't tell you what it was though - Probably API.

I do use seachem ammonia alerts, though, so I guess I am continuously testing for ammonia.

I have API test kits but I rarely use them anymore. The only time I test is if something seems off in one of my tanks, or if I seed a new tank and want to check and make sure that it cycled

Wait, I'm confused....the thread name is about water conditioners, yet the poll is about water tests??

Good morning Meenu,
I use the API liquid Test for ammonia and pH. Very reliable and accurate. I used the Tetra Laborett until I joined Fish Lore almost a year ago. My tanks are well established and I have my water change routine down pat so it's rare I test for nitrites and nitrates.

Tetra Laborett " it does both salt and freshwater"

I use API and love the tests. I just use a vibration stirrer like you find a chem lab to shake up the Nitrate #2 bottle, no numb hand like someone else mentioned

Thanks for this info - I just recommended it to a member based on this.

I use a Nutrafin Mini-Master Test kit. I like it and I haven't had any issues. My first kit didn't come with and NH3 test so I had to buy that separate however the newer kits have that included. I bought it because it was the only liquid kit I could find other then a massive full API kit that was like $150.00. Since then I've noticed a few places beginning to carry the API kits but I'm happy with mine.

I use API for testing my water and one of the bottles (I forgot, amybe Nitrate #1?) to test rocks for calcium (hydrochloric acids is way more accurate than vinegar).

I use the API master test kit & PH & EC meters.
I like the API kit. It's also the only one widely available anywhere in Perth. I've gotten lucky & found a place that sells the test bottles by themselves so now I can buy replacement bottles for 1/4 of the price of the regular replacement kits.

API I'm quite happy with it

I use API cause all the LFS's I've ever been in all use the same thing and I trust that it works.
