Where's my Frog?!?

So got our first dwarf frog yesterday- after putting him in tank he's pretty shy or scared still....

Anyways- I can't find him in the tank at all today. I do have some things he could probably burrow under and I dont want to disrupt everything to find him.

I literally have been trying to find him on and off for hours now.

Is this normal? I wat to make sure:

#1. He's in there (i do have a cover, he should be lol)
#2 He's not dead
#3 He will be ok and happy

I fed blood worms but because I can't find him, I was unable to put them close to him.

Anyone have ideas or advice:

-If I get another frog, will that help him be more active??

-do they usually hide like this?

-any tricks to get them to come out of hiding?

-any favorite hiding spots frogs may have?

Any help is appreciated as he is my first frog and I am still learning about them as a species.

Thanks!

I'd start by checking around the tank to see if he got out. I dont know much about their care so I wish I could be more help. Do u have any cats or other animals that may have gotten it after a possible escape? From what I do know frozen bloodworms seem to be their favorite.

Thanks- no cats or dogs here- I'm hoping he's just still getting used to the new surroundings and will come out tomorrow. I know some good places in the tank where he could hide

I would hold off on putting food in there until you see the little guy. If he isn't interested the food will just foul the water. Most of the time critters will come out of hiding once they get hungry. Most of the time it is best to give all water pets time to get comfortable in their new home before offering food.

They like hunkering underneath things, it makes them feel safe. Could be the move stressed him out a little and he just needs time. Can you tell us a little more about his tank? Is it cycled, with no ammonia? Temperature? Are there any fish? Thanks

Yes, he's in a fully cycled tank 46gal tank with mostly mollies but we have a few platties, tetras and danios. 1 algae eater and 2 pletcos (the ones that get 2-3")

Our tank has zero ammonia and is at 80 degrees

He (will) also has 4 snail friends

Good, he's probably sleeping and still settling in. I'm sure you'll see him soon!
