Where would I be able to get live food? I can get frozen blood worms and brine shrimp but I just got a rope fish and I was reading that live food would be better? Do I have to get that online or at the local fish store?

I think it all depends on your local fish store. Mine has some live brine shrimp that they have available. If your LFS doesn't have live food I am sure there are places online that probably have live food.

Look into some local aquariumist groups/forums online, ask if some of them are selling.

I'm not sure. I live in the U.S. and I haven't even looked online for them because I just buy them from my LFS when I need some

Kay438,
Things might be a bit different in the Southern Hemisphere but my local Australian club costs $ 40 to join with a free $40 bag of dry fish food ( sometimes) to new members. Each month we have auctions. For $3 you can get vinegar eels cultures. $3 Micro worm cultures are sold at auction as well. But often they are given to each other as it’s easy enough to lose them in the heat etc. We give them for free expecting to get free stuff in return someday.
Our club buys brine shrimp eggs in bulk from time to time. Dry food is brought in bulk and bagged up to be sold. Sponsors give us almost out of date dry food as raffle prices.
You ask were to get live foods , I suggest you contact your local aquarium Society ( club)

Ah you can try ordering from Ontario if the above is a no-go and you can't find anywhere else in Manitoba. The two places we have are shrimpfever and angelfins. shrimpfever for plants, angelfins for livestock
