Where to put my protein skimmer?

I bought a 150 instant ocean protein skimmer and planned to hang it on my fish tank from the back, however the protein skimmer doesn’t completely fit in the back of the fish tank because it’s too close to the wall and it’s a 75 gallon fish tank so i can push it a few inches foward. I can’t hang it on the side because of the lids on the fish tank and when i asked a petco lady she said because i don’t have a sump i should just put it directly into the fish tank.Is this correct if not what’s the best way of doing this?

 

I think those can do in the tank if I remember right. I had same issue ended up getting a tunze 9012 because I want sure based on reviews of the io skimmer

I was worried about the reviews too. Some people said it was great some said it was bad. Then the noise complaint worried me. So i’m just gonna test it and see how it goes and then go from there

I haven't put it in my fish tank. I learned i have to do something to hang it because the darn protein skimmer is too tall for my fish tank. However today i finally noticed that there is a broken piece in the fish tank so im getting a replacement protein skimmer, The major issue i have with the noise it makes the issue is the pump they give you or the powerhead rattles so im gonna mess with the old one seeing if anything would help the noise, any suggestions on what i shoud do?

75 gallon, with the new one shipping i wanted to see the how it works and managed to hang it onto my fish tank and I am surprised the noise isnt so bad as i thought and i can deal with it, i just gotta wait for the replacement to come.
