Where To Put Check Splitter?

I have an air pump running a sponge filter in my 20 gallon tank to seed it before I set up the 5 gallon which it's going to run on and want to add an airstone. I have both the check valves and t-shaped valve to split the line. Do I place the check valve before the split in the line or after it? Seems like it would be a simple question, but I can't seem to find an answer.

Put it before the splitter. You want it to be the first thing in the tubing closest to the pump.

Pump => check valve => splitter => tanks.

@mattgirl, I promise I'm not stalking your posts. Our responses just seem to cross a lot lately and post near the same time. :emoji_joy:

Didn't even cross my mind. I've always heard that great minds think alike though :D
