Up to this point, I have been using AquaFertz (substrate pellets and liquid) from Aquariumplants.com and the plants were doing OK...but I'm out. I decided to try EI dosing for a change. I bought some of this stuff off of Amazon and it works great, but I am always looking for a better deal. Where is a good place to buy ferts? Also, should I still put in substrate pellets?

    Here is what I bought:

You could do the DIY packs from NilocG:

Or buy larger refills for what you have and it will get much cheaper. I guess I think these already are pretty well priced.

Nilocg's stuff is one of the cheapest out there. Dry ferts are cheaper and lasts the longest, but you could also go with Thrive for an all-in-one.

Can I use distilled water to mix it?

Yeah, distilled or RO/DI water is best when mixing dry ferts

You can, but it's not necessary.
