Where To Buy Parts For Hydor Canisters In Canada ?

I’m trying to decide which canister filter to buy for my 45 bow front.

I have it down to either Fluval 407 (and spray bar) which is very expensive (425$ cad) or Hydor 450 (263$ cad).

I really like the Hydor and it would be my choice if I could only find a store that sells parts for it in Canada. For those who have a Hydor in Canada, where do you buy parts ? I’ve seen the media sold in a few stores, but no parts.

Have you looked online or on their website? I’m not sure if the shipping would be an issue though. Sometimes a lfs can also custom order you parts if you’re having trouble finding it in stores or online.

I can only find a « Hydor USA » store. There are no LFS close to me that carry this brand. I would have to buy it from another province, six hours away from me.

I can always call them and ask if they can easily get the parts from Hydor if need be. It’s definitely more a hassle though because I would have to wait at least 2-3 weeks to get what I need.

I have owned a Hydor 600 for just over a year now.

I've had zero issues with it.

I think they only difference between mine and the 450 model is that the 600 has 5 media trays vs the 450's 4 trays.

Hydors are quiet, hold a ton of media, and have an excellent intake and discharge pipe (or spraybar) set up.

They come with either a 2 or 3 year warranty.

I would definitely buy another Hydor myself.

 

Marineandreef.com in the States. I'm not sure if they ship internationally but they are fast and reliable. I too have a Hydor 600 and aside from breaking an impeller (my own fault) I have had no issues. Very happy with it's performance and how quiet it is. I highly recommend it.

Glad to know you like your Hydor. I did check Big Al’s in Canada but they appear to only sell through their store and not online.

I saw part on Amazon.ca though, which I’m happy about.
