Where should I connect the RO booster?

Hello everybody,

Been lurking and reading this forum for the past week. Very informative and helpful! So finally registered myself

Anyway, I got a portable RO system at ebay its made by purewater club:

Recently the flow is getting restricted, so I did the flush the system and its still the same. So I plan to get a RO booster from this company

My question is:

1. Is there a better brand of RO booster out there at that price?
2. Where do I connect the RO booster? Is it right before it enters the 1st stage (just after the faucet) or after the 2nd stage before going to the membrane?

Appreciate some feedback thanks!

Hi,
I'm fortunate that I have great mains pressure, so I don't need a booster.

That said, how old is your RO unit? Do the membranes need replacing?
If the pressure was good before, but now it has slowed, it indicates the membranes may be clogged.

Do you now the TDS of your tap water that you are filtering? The higher the starting TDS, the more the membranes have to filter out, and thus they clog quicker.

The link to your RO unit is working for me, so I have to ask:
- How many GPD is your unit? The booster you listed is rated for 50GPD RO units.

When using a booster, you do need to connect it to the input (before the 1st stage). The idea of a booster is to increase the pressure going to through the RO unit, and thus through the membranes.

Too, where are you located? what's the weather like? RO units operate optimally at around 24 degrees Celsius, 76 Farenheit. My RO unit has slowed right down at the moment as we're in the middle of winter.

Depending on where you are, could determine if I know of other brands (I'm in Australia, and we have local manufacturer)

Hope that helps.

My RO is 50 GPD. So my booster should match it. I did flush the system but still it only trickles so I decided to get a booster. According to my RO instruction the optimum pressure should be 65psi. My water pressure is only 30 psi. Initially the RO works good. Now its less.
