Just put in my first German Blue Rams. Only fish in the tank. I got 5, and will see who pairs off. They are about an inch.
how long do you wait until you feed them ?
Also I only got small sinking pellets, what else should I get ?

You can feed them once a day. As for feeding, you can also feed them frozen foods such as bloodworms or brine shrimp along with dried foods.

I’ll post photos tomorrow. Was hard to tell male and female with the lighting they had. Plus there was a lot of plants in the tank which made it harder. And the fact they are very small. I think I got 3 males, 2 females. But once they settle in and I get the lights on I should be able to tell. They had one more in the tank which I wished I grabbed, but I will see what I get out of this group. Super excited.
So as far as filtration, I have a sponge filter, plus an aqua clear 50. Is this all over kill? They seem to be getting pushed around a little from the current, so I turned the aqua clear down the the night. But they are small to and just settling in.
just racing thoughts. I have been having an urge to just go sponge filter only. But I haven’t dared to as I’m unsure on it.

Can't tell if it's overkill without knowing the size of the tank. I doubt it is overkill as long as your fish are not being blown around in the water. That being said, 5 should be in a 55 gallon at least, just my 2 cents. I have 2 in a 30 gallon with 2 Eheim 2215 canister filters so no you are not over filtering. They swim ALL OVER the tank, they will not only appreciate the space, but they need it. Small tank space can lead to problems and even deaths. I feed my guys ALL the time lol they are pigs in water. Just a LITTLE BIT at a time up to 5 or 6 times a day but no less than twice a day. They like frozen bloodworms, fluval bug bites, and they love brine shrimp. Switch up the food as much as you can, your fish will appreciate it. I have gotten away from flake foods, good luck and remember to keep your temps between 80-84 degrees and change your water once a week. Good luck

Thank you.
I haves 20 long. I’m not planning on keeping them in there forever. Just until I’m able to get a matching pair.
then I will move all but 2 from that tank.

Also my temperature is at 84, been that temperature the whole cycle process.

that’s a good plan. 2 or 3 males in a 20 gallon may have some issues. Post up some pictures when you can

I will post some photos tonight. I just dropped in some sinking pellets. They are a little skittish still right now.
I have plenty of hiding spots though,I picked up some more driftwood last night when I got them and boiled it last night.
picked up another Anubias plant as well.
photos to come, very excited.

They take some time to warm up but once they do....lol. They shouldn't be afraid of you AT ALL, that is normal behavior but it takes some time. Give them a couple weeks. Pick up some brine shrimp and give them little pieces, they will have fun tearing into it and eating it. I wouldn't do 3 in the 20 long unless it's heavily planted and has plenty of hiding places. 2 would be fine, pick up some frozen food you know the one in the cubes, they love it. I have 2 males in a 30 gallon which is 6 inches longer than a 20 long and luckily they get along most of the time that I can see. They are almost always together, I can't imagine having a third one in there. Good luck
