Got it. Sounds good.Ichthyo can survive in a tank without fish for a month at least. Thing is it will be in the incapsulated stage of the life cycle in the substrate. In that state it's hard to exterminate as meds (including salt) can't hurt it. You could try heating the tank to 30°C for a week and cool it down slowly over 3-4 days before getting the betta.
I decided to go a different direction with the aquarium and would like to transfer the plants to another tank. What would be the safest way of doing this so as not to infect the next tank?Thing is it will be in the incapsulated stage of the life cycle in the substrate.
Ok. Thanks. I moved the plants into a clean jar and will wait a few more.I would ensure that no fish have been present with the potentially infected material (plants, substrate etc.) for a month.
After a month you may place the material with fish once more.
I'm pretty sure Ich will not be able to survive without a fish host in a tropical tank situation for a whole month. The actual amount of time ich can survive is likely to be much less.
