I have 1 pregnant ghost shrimp and have just put her in a glass container but still in the tank (almost ready to release babys.) They have 2 black dots on the larva now. When does the mother release them? So she can return to my tank.

I almost think that I remember reading that they have to have salt in the tank to release eggs... I don't know how true it is, but it's something to think about

Funny I added salt a week ago and purchased her today. I hope she lays her eggs soon her container makes my tank look miserable.

They don't need salt, but the babies can be difficult to keep alive.

Got some java moss? They can hide on that and eat micros from it.

No only Java fern. I wan't to try to keep the babies alive and its not likely they would survive in my tank. I only have 1 small Anubis plant on driftwood, the Java fern, and "brown"(some petco plant.) But none of these will do to much good for baby ghost shrimp.

What do I feed the young? Usually the male ghost shrimp eats the algae wafer or bloodworms and the female since she is in a container I will toss in a few flakes and let them sink to the bottom. Do the young need something different? Thanks for the help.

The mother has just relaleased the young (most of them.) She is still releasing a few. RTS and guppies have gotten their fair share. How long till I can release the young from the container?
