What’s your kind of fish?

HI all! What I am asking is not for your favorite species of fish (although feel free to share), I am talking more like group of fish. Some examples would be catfish, cichlids, goldfish, livebearers, cold water, shrimp, snails, etc.

Kind of just the general group. Of course if you would like to be more specific you may be. I actually was also wondering because I have been seeing a lot about Cory catfish lately, what is yours favorite kind of cory catfish (if you have a favorite). Mine is the albino Cory catfish. IDK why. My favorite group of fish would either be catfish or cichlids. I love catfish and have abunch if species from big to small but I think cichlids are generally more personable and trainable (not saying catfish don’t have personality’s, because they do (and some even have really good personality’s)) just saying cichlids I think can be trained a bit more than catfish. What are your guys opinion?

Mines blood parrots, gourami, then loaches. The gourami and loaches position flip flops, but I'm currently smitten with a new opaline gourami I just got so they get second place atm.

African Rift Lakes and blackwater biotopes. Whatever lives there, I'm interested.

Groups: mainly tetras, cichlids, catfish

For me Gourami, I find most to be fascinating, the way they breed, their long pelvic fins, their Labyrinth organ. I find them truly fascinating My favourite is the Three Spot Gourami.
I also like Barbs a lot, as well as the more unusual Catfish like Mystus species and Syno's.

So far my only experience with corys is trilineatus, and I really like them, but I want a different variety for my new 65 gallon (if I stick with the current plan to make it a community tank). I'd like to try orange lasers, but I'd want at least 8, and that price tag is causing second thoughts. I'm having trouble with the idea of spending well over $100.00 for just the corys.

I like a heavily planted tank with lots of natural rocks and wood. While I think brightly coloured fish can be awesome and beautiful to look at, I prefer something that adds to the natural look of the tank, rather than takes the focus away. Ember tetras fit the bill.

One day I'd love to have a tank with Gobies though. They're stinking cute and so full of personality.

PLECOS.
catfish. All of them. I love catfish. They're so cute and when they wiggle walk its the best.! Although so far I only have 1 clown pleco. I do plan on eventually getting some bronze corydoras for my 65 gallon. Bronze Cory's are the prettiest in my opinion.

I haven’t had the chance to keep very many species yet, but so far livebearers and gourami are my thing. I currently have two different guppy strains, Endler’s, platies, pearl gourami, and dwarf gouramI

Plecos, barbs, and mollies!

So much personality. I have clown barbs and I could watch them zip around each other for hours.

I really like tetras; they're ridiculously cute and come in so many varieties!

As far as corys go, I love the look of skunk corys, what with their single black stripe. Ugggg, how adorable

Loaches for me. I have dojos and kuhlis.
Cyprininds/barbs second I have zebrafish, whiteclouds and goldfish
As for favorite fish Dojo loaches are so personable and fun. Can pet, play with and feed mine by hand. Zebrafish are a close second because of the variety available from just one species

I've been thinking while reading other people's posts but I really don't think there are any fish that are NOT my favourites! I love them all.

The favourite fish that I have kept were/are:

Favourite Single Fish: Red-tailed Black Shark
Favourite Pair of Fish: Kribensis
Favourite Shoaling Fish: Clown Loach

These are mine, the female Clown Loach is on the left, the male on the right (both 25 years old). RTB Shark and Congo Tetras also in the pic.

My GBR are my favorite and my albino BN. But as for a group I love tetras. Cardinals and Embers are what I have. I love rummynose but they are so hard to keep in my tank for some reason.
