What's YOUR aquarium lie?

Do you sell fry or plants?
Both, though selling fry has been surprisingly less lucrative than, for example, selling snails. I bought four ramshorns from another local aquarist (50¢ each) and dropped two of them into my own tank and two in the tank at work. Less than six months later, I've sold $67 worth of snails somehow. Flame moss has also been a big seller; got a $5 portion once, and have since sold >$150 worth, also within a span of ~6 months.

Nope; not sufficiently motivated to try to figure out shipping! I'm also in Canada, so for most (US) buyers, shipping would be inordinately expensive, especially seeing I don't have anything super special to sell—it's not like I'm dealing in ultra rare breeds that people will be seeking out; just pest snails and plant trimmings! It's mostly just second hand market sales—Kijiji (essentially Craigslist), Facebook marketplace, local aquarium Facebook groups, etc.

Me: “It’s only going to be a little tank mom 10 gallons max. I swear you’ll barely notice it”

Also Me: Proceeds to get 29 gallon tank from the dad of someone I’ve known for years. (Paid nothing for it because we’d known them for so long it was a really great deal.)

My Mom: -_- . . .

I'm very thorough, so I figured I'd be up for the challenge. But since "eradicating" it, I've removed probably thirty more individual pieces, half of which were hiding in the HOB filter cavity. But I THINK the two that I pulled out yesterday might, in fact, be the last ones...

I saw a free 42 gallon online and literally begged my family lol. I'll move the ten gallon and 3.5. Gallon and they can go on a double tier stand. See? It wont take up extra room.....

I order most of my supplies from China, and lately it's gone from 60-day shipping to 90 days, so by the time things arrive, I sometimes don't need them anymore! "Oh yeah... I forgot that two months ago I thought marimo balls would be a good idea..." (Those ones are still in the mail!)

That fish? No, that's not new. I's been in there for a while. Remember, I told you abut it.
I’m only going into the pet store to look. I won’t buy anything .
"It was only $20..."

Those 3 are my lies too. Hahaha

Also

HER : Okay, we're broke, please tell me you won't order anything else for the tanks
ME : Ok, I'll stop [Lie #1]

1 month later, when I receive 4 different packages in the same week :

ME : I swear, I ordered these before you asked me to stop ordering stuff [Lie #2]
HER : *sights* How much was it this time ?
ME : It was super cheap, like 7 or 8$ [Lie #3] - And it was free shipping too ! [Lie #4]

Also, me at the fish store :

« Yeah, I'll just go and buy the Betta food, I told you we were out »

*exits the store with 95$ worth of rocks and two pieces of 50$ driftwood*

« IT WAS ON SALE »

**not lies**
My parents are so annoyed with all the packages coming... I've ordered so much stuff from Amazon... And another 10 gallon tank from facebook market, and I got a 29 gallon from my grandparents... Uh... I'm definitely not going crazy mom
I agree with lots of the things people have posted
**lies**
Me: "Don't worry mom, I'm sure this'll be the last package (under my breath, "for a while...").
Next day," ummm... Hey mom! Guess what?! Uh... I kinda need to order something else...)

There are lies we all tell ourselves (and our spouses or parents) about this hobby - what's yours?

Mine is "THAT was definitely the last piece of duckweed. I've totally eradicated it this time."
I'm ONLY getting cherry shrimp to test of the water is safe for other more expensive shrimp. Definitely not because I want baby shrimp. Not at all.

Here is another one:
I'm ONLY replacing my silk aquarium plants with live ones because the silk ones are falling apart.
