Whats Wrong With My Tiger Barb?

I have a 46g aquarium with 8 tiger barbs 2 pearl gourami 2 adolfoi cories 5 cherry barns and a green phantom pleco. Earlier today I noticed this one barb is a bit skinnier than the others he doesn't really get picked on and the others are doing excellent. I got home a few minutes ago and saw the fish completely floating near the bottom of the tank I thought it was dead but its still going breathing and kinda trying. I'm acclimating the barb to a hospital tank right now and ill do a big water change in the main tank tomorrow when I can to try and protect them. The only meds I have on hand is kanaplex so I will dose that soon unless I find a reason not to.

If you can get a picture that could help.

My best guess is that perhaps some kind of internal illness; bacterial or parasite. It might be too late but it wouldn't hurt to try and start dosing the Kanaplex. Rtessy do you have any input at this time?

Separate and start to dose kanaplex, unless there were symptoms before today, internal parasites is an iffy diagnosis, I think bacterial would be more likely
Can you please list:
Ammonia
Nitrite
Nitrate
What was the most recent addition?
When was the most recent addition?
Temperature

Okay, good to know, thanks. Given that, bacterial seems the most likely, so kanaplex is a good course of action.

What would possibly cause a bacterial issue or parasite? Would my other fish be in danger of the same fate?

Parasites would be brought in by other fish/plants/ that type of thing, but since you haven't added anything for months, it's probably not that.
There's always bacteria in the water column, but a fish's immune system can fight them off most of the time. But if they get stressed or the immune system is compromised, they can get sick

Good to know. I don't know what would have stressed it out. The tiger barbs fight a little as tiger barbs do but really not much. All the other fish couldn't bully the tiger barbs even if they wanted.
