What's wrong with my ph

My tap water ph is 7.4 and I tested my tanks ph and its 8.2 why how can I lower it down

I added some Eco complete substrate can that be it that went up so high

I have two pieces driftwood and some decor I got from the petsmart

Try letting a bucket/cup of tap water sit out for 24 hours, then test the pH of that.

Alright thanks if that doesn't work can co2 lower ph I'm getting my setup today will it affect anything or my fish

The decor and/or substrate in your tank can definitely affect your ph spike. I would try and avoid any type of ph down additives

It shouldn't hurt your fish if the pH doesn't go down too quickly. It will lower your pH.

Thank you then I'll add some co2 and slowly start with 1 bubble per sec
