Hello Fish Lore members!
Lately I’ve noticed that my Anubias nana is developing brown markings on some of its leaves. I tried to figure out what these markings might be, but my knowledge of aquatic plants is limited and I could not distinguish between brown algae vs. nutrient deficiency vs. infection. One week ago I added new plants (7 small marimo moss balls) to my tank and one month ago I increased the frequency of my water changes to 50% water change 1x/wk; it is possible that one or both of these changes has precipitated the problem with my Anubias? I am hoping that someone on the forum will be able to identify the problem and advise me on how I can fix it.
About my tank: I have a 3 gal freshwater tank with one betta fish and some live plants (including the Anubias, marimo moss balls, a microsporum pteropus “Windeløv,” and scattered staurogyne repenswichovia) - these are planted in gravel and polished rocks. I use Prime water conditioner and, up until now, my plants have done well without fertilizers, CO2 or other supplements. My tank came with one small LED light and it gets some indirect sunlight too. I have never had an algae problem before.
Below are photos of my Anubias. Sorry the quality isn’t very good - I am happy to upload more photos if that would be helpful.
