What's with Yahoo Mails IM?

Is anybody else on Yahoo Mail getting fake IM's from your friends promoting some IQ test? I'm in my E-mail right now. Once I start getting the IM's I'll post 'em for you...

Of course now that I'm asking about it, its not happening... Maybe it will do it tomorrow. In the mean time, any body else have this happen? How do I stop it?

I had this happen to my when my Yahoo account got hacked. I'd suggest you change your password to something very different and then block the user who is sending you the unwanted messages.

 

Please don't post the links you get from yahoo on FL.

I agree with Dena, change your pw.
Could be someone hacked into your friends account and got your user name from their lost since they are the ones sending spam.

I wasn't going to post any links. I was just gunna copy/paste the IM messages to show you guys


On a side note; I googled this problem, and many people are having this issue. For me, its from several friends, and a few of them are ones I don't even talk to any more. My password is totaly long and random, but I suppose I will change it, and see what happens.

 

Changing my PW didnt do anything. Still get the IM's.

I screwed with it a bit, just to see what it would say, thus the "have fun" and "dont get lost" lol

If I say anything about how the test wants a phone number, it says "yeah but its ok. do it" or something like that. And no matter what, its always the same exact words every time, even from "person" to "person." You would think they would mix it up a bit...

 

Maybe your friend's account has been hacked, especially if you are able to have a conversation with them.

At the very least, someone is attempting to gain personal information about you. The best thing you can do is to stop responding. Put them on ignore.

Further, if you went to a web page they suggested, it most likely downloaded a key logger to your pc. Get off the Internet and run your virus scanner. Your pc could be affected and gathering information already. Once clean, change every password you have, especially any to online banking or credit card sites.

 

I didnt do anything about the link. So far 3 of my "friends" have done it. One of them is a computer freek, so I doubt its a virus or that they got hacked... I do scans all the time (I might be a little obsesed with it lol), and it comes up clean (other then cookies from fishlore and facebook). Even do Norton Power Eraser scans every now and then. Never find anything...

I think I deserve that $20! I have an IQ of 143, and that's when I only like 12! XD

They do actually talk to me, though, and not just the bot/whatever-it-is. I could just tell them to IM me on facebook... Never thought of that lol.

That could work... I'm gunna do that and see what happens! I'm gunna go block every one on my IM list now LOL
