I’ve got this white stuff floating on top of the water. Tank water is clean in general it’s just on top. Anyone know what it is??

Looks like the film you get if there's no water movement at the surface.

Hmmm there’s quite a lot of movement on the surface.

Are the white specks food or bubbles

Neither it’s almost like a mould or residue of some sort. I got most of it out when I did my last water change but it’s back. It’s not in the water just on top of it.

I've seen the same thing in my tanks, but not to that extent. I believe it is organic waste (e.g. protein) from leftover food, fish excretion, etc. How long has this tank been up and running? Any recent changes, additions? If this occurs, when doing a water change (before siphoning) I'll skI'm the surface of the water using a plastic cup (hold the cup sideways and quickly dip it in to suck the matter inside the cup, dump out, and repeat). I also use surface skimmers on my tanks, so I no longer have any issues.

How much are you feeding? What type/brand of food?

Also referred to as "bio film":

I’ve had the tank set up for years and I’ve never seen this before. I feed normal flakes, pellets, bloodworms etc but nothing out of the ordinary from what I normally feed.

My ADF seems a little off now the other ADF seems ok and the fish are all fine.

Oh and I did what you said with the cup and I had to do it a few times but it seems to be settling now so thank you for that advice!
