what's this virus? (angelfish)

HI all,
Sorry if this is long, pictures below.
My freshwater angelfish has some sort of disease going on, I was wondering if anyone could point me to what it could be. My first thought was fungus, so I started treatment with Maroxy 2 days ago, but it's only to be used for no more than 5 days and so far there has been no change.
Could this be parasites? But I don't see any worms or anything. Can it be a virus, a bacterial infection? Other 2 fish (gourami and cory) in the tank are fine (so far). It looks like his eye is being eaten away alive and his bottom lip is gone completely already and his whole mouth, as well as some other parts are infected.
I had someone take care of the tank for a month while I was moving, and this is how I got him back. It seems that this been going on for a while, so it's nothing fast-killing, but poor guy must be suffering.
There are no behavioral changes - eating a lot, not hiding, not scratching, friendly, etc. He's just slowly rotting away. I've had him over 3 years, he never had problems before, neither have my tanks.
I've been suggested Lymphocystis and treatment with Melafix, any other suggestions?
Can other treatments be started even though I've given Maroxy?
Any help would be appreciated.

you could try using melafix and pimafix although I can't help you out with what disease this could be, are you parameters ok???

yup, all parameters are more or less in the good range, same as it's always been. i'm gonna try starting him on melafix tonight and see if that helps :-\

It's hard for me to tell from the picture what disease it is, as it looks like ich and like some type of fungus at the same time. And yet I may be wrong. It's best if you examine your fish well yourself, and then refer to the charts I have provided on the top of this board to determine what disease the fish has, and how to treat it. Unless someone in here knows well what disease it is and how to treat it.

no way, this is definitely far worse than ich could ever be, I mean he's literally rotting alive, ich can't cause that. I wish it was that easy. thanks for trying though. I started him on melafix, and even though so far no changes for the better, at least he's not getting worse, which is somewhat good...

It looks like some kind of fungus. I would finish up the Maracyn then do a second round if necessary. If you decide to use a different mrdicine make sure all the Maracyn is out of the tank first.
Keeping the water parameters within range, Ammonia 0, Nitrite 0, Nitrate 20 or less. I the first defense to keeping your fish healthy.
