Ok.. there seem to be plenty of geeks and nerds here so there's gotta be some Final Fantasy addicts in the Fishlore ranks. Your favorite game could be any version of the particular FF game (for example: the gameboy remake of FFI or the original NES version). If your favorite is a game not in the main series, just pick other and let us know what game it is.

what do you like most about the game that's your favorite and do you have any close 2nd's? Thanks to Sick-Lid Boy for the inspiration to this poll.

and while you're at it - what's better? Original Lucky Charms or Chocolate?

I know I claim to be king of the geeks, but honestly, I've never really gotten into Final Fantasy. I'm more of a military sI'm geek.

FlBettaCouple, don't be, it's just after playing dungeons & dragons for over a decade no other fantasy game seemed to satisfy me. And there's nothing better after a frustrating day at work than coming home to a nice flight simulator and shooting the **** out of 20 or so planes at once... hehehe

ahh.. but it can be so rewarding to sit down to FFXII and slice and dice and hack and shoot and club and beat and zap, etc. an endless supply of monsters. or hunt down a big one for fun & profit. The newest battle system makes is so much more rewarding to kill the enemies.

I'll have to give it a try... my current addiction is the newest Microsoft combat flight simulator 3. It's Europe in WW2 and not only does it have authentic planes, it has theoretical ones thay weren't used, but on the drawing boards during the war. Also the graphics are amazig, especially flying and fighting thru thunderstorms...hehehe

It's a very addictive game and even if you don't do half the stuff in the game, it can take over a 100 hours to get through.. so much is optional though and 60-80 hours is more average.. there's so much in the game, it's crazy. Sounds like a super flying game - you playing it on a PC or a XBox360? I was addicted to sims like the civilization series, etc on PC.

I'm into the Final Fantasy VIII. It could be because that is the only one I have ever played, but it is still pretty fun. But a game called Legend Of Dragoon is a fun game also. They are both for the PS1.

FFVIII is my 2nd favorite in the series. I'd like to find a copy of it as somehow in all the moving around, i've lost the 4th disc. The first time I played it through, it took me 5 tries to beat ultimecia and when I did beat her, it was almost a 2 hour battle.. I kind of rushed through the game wanting to see the ending and had a super-weak party.. my friend tried it with that party and didn't last 10 minutes. he almost didn't believe i'd beaten the game.

You could try and visit one of those used game stores and see if they have another copy. About the game, how of the GF's did you have? I think I have all of them excpet the one you have to extract from that really tough optional boss. I also really liked the card game they had, I had every single good card.

I think my favorite is FFX11. But I actually enjoyed all the FF titles I have played... which is V11, X, X-2, and X11. Even though FF X-2 was a bit on the girly side, I still liked it. Finding new dresses to gain powers, singing stupid little songs and doing special little dances to kill fiends... what's not to love?

Oh, and FLBetta, check out this sculpture I made a few years back... I had intended to re-cast it and semi-mass produce it for a limited edition figurine model, but I never really found the time to do it before FF X-2 was too outdated. At the time, I was sculpting a number of figurines from horror movies, and decided to do a couple video-game figures as well. This was the only video-game figure I did, though.

(the is kinda large, so I'll just put the link...)

lol.. yea, I loved that game for the job class system.. reminded me of final fantasy tactics. i've played all of their console games since the 1st one and enjoyed them all. the dancing was .. different .. but it was cool to revisit FFX places and characters. cool job on the figurine - the only FF character to ever utter the words "oh poopie!"

Definitely a fan of FFIII (US release). It was the first one I ever played and has nostalgic purposes for me, heh. But other than that, FFVII was awesome and I really enjoyed FFX. The new fighting system and the sphere grid were both good adds. Haven't played X-2 or XII yet. Heard XII was really good. Is it good enough that I should buy it?

It is! and then some! I was worried about the battle system changing so radically from previous FF games, but really they did super and it is the best system. the game is so huge and fun! it's probably the best one so far.

am I going to prove how old I am if I wax nostalgic about the original (us) ff for the classic nes? That game revolutionized the gaming industry when it came out. Zelda was already making waves, but here was a turn based strategy game that allowed for character selection and development. there was free will (to a point) in how you played the games, with independent strategy and puzzle solving opportunities.

not until kingdom hearts did another game capture my attention and heart like that. It's ben part of the success of the GBA, bringing back classics like that.

I love the original FF. I played the GBA version of it earlier this year and remember what a great new game it was.. like Zelda - it's the first in a line of games that continue until today.. and both changed console gaming. I used to play that game so much - still have the cartridge too.

kingdom hearts is right up there with final fantasy to me. I was instantly hooked on the 1st one when I finally got a ps2 and played both of them often - even captured all of the KH2 cutscenes last play-through.. almost 11 hours.

I feel we aren't truly doing this thread justice without bringing up Chrono Trigger. That game was way ahead of it's time. Hundreds of easter eggs, different paths, multiple endings... And the graphics weren't half bad. Definitely one of the best RPGs in my book.

I've got to say FFVII.
I fought the final battle about a dozen times, just so I could show my friends the ending video. Sure, the graphics of the newer games are better, but that's expected now. The quality of the game at the time blew everything else out of the water.
FFVIII is a close runner up, mostly for the beautiful videos (Edea casually flicking the sniper's round out of the air with her magic was gorgeous).
FF Tactics is another close runner up. It had such a great story, and the class system was awesome.

For all of you fans who like the Final Fantasy games for the stories, you might want to hunt down an old PS1 game called Vagrant Story. It's more of an action game than most Final Fantasy games, but it has one of the greatest stories, only beaten out in my mind by Parasite Eve.

NO!! I've been using all my game-time to play Okami and Marvel Nemesis... both of which I am ALSO stuck for the moment. Playing three games... and I'm stuck in all three. I suck. I might have to go back to Resident Evil to regain my self-esteem.

You know, I was rifling through my older games/systems last night (looking for paper mario) and remembered how pretty crystal chronicles was. There was so many flaws with the game, but the story was excellent, and there were some beautiful moments in that game.

i've seen that game, but never bought it.. no nintendo DS system. it reminds me of the Mana games in a way.

I wouldn't think of cheating in a video game. Completely pointless. Don't even have a cheating thingy. And I HATE resorting to strategy guides, although I have used them before (FFV11, FFX). I do however occasionally refer to Gamefaqs.com as a last resort. I'm thinking I may have to break down and hit it up this time around...

yea, I don't mean any codes for cheating.. just looking up battle strategy to see if there's any weaknesses to help in the fight. I always buy the FF strategy guides, kind of a tradition now and EB Games gives that 15 or 20% off when you buy the guide & game together. I almost bought the collectors version of FFXII's guide, but figured the collector's version of the game was enough.

no, no, Crystal Chronicles is a gamecube game - there might be other platforms, but I think it was gamecube only. Now, to expand to have 4 players at a time, you do need GBA's.

so you can play it one player without a GBA? They should've said that on the box - lol.. it looked like you needed GBA's to play. maybe I'll have to pick it up sometime when I find a copy at EB Games.. after I finish (or even start) Paper Mario. lol

You don't need it for one player, but game play is limited, as the GBA screen gives you info you can't get elsewhere.
It's great though. It's one of the only games that has co-operative two-player gameplay. Most two-player games are versus, which my wife doesn't like.

Although I haven't played any other Final Fantasy games, I have to say that Kingdom Hearts II is the best game I ever played! I like the mix of Disney and Final Fantasy. I found myself playing it 17 times! It also has some challenges, like defeating Sepiroth and making the Ultima Weapon! Those hooked me up! Kingdom Hearts is the master!

Does Kingdom Hearts II count as a Final Fantasy game?

I LOVE Final Fantasy. I used to have VII, VIII, and IX. I lost every CD to VII and I have 2 for VIII and I can't even find the case for IX. I have X and X2. My favorite was VII. I guess since it was the first one I played and amazingly I finished the game. I never finished VIII but I finished IX, X, and X2. I also like the KH series. I beat both of them in a few days =) lol. I think I may just go play it right now lol.

I am acutally going to try and find a copy of 7, 8 , and 9 to buy. hehe
FF VII runs about 50 dollars on average on ebay. PHEW that's a lot for a 20 dollar original game lol. I wish I knew where my discs were.

Edit: I just looked where I had my old cases and the three of them were right there. I must have skipped over IX because it was there to. I have VII disc 3; IX Disc 3 and 4; and VIII Disc 3 and 4. I have all the little booklets that go in them. I am gonna see if I can find individual cds on ebay.

2nd edit: I just looked and there is a disc 1 for sale and a disc 2 for sale. They are about 15 bucks each including shipping. I'll think about buying them.

Have you looked at a games exchange or EB Games...they may have nearly new copies of all FF since PS1 for around $20 a piece.

If any of you have a 360, you HAVE TO play Mass Effect. I'm also looking forward to Lost Odyssey. I still haven't beaten FF XII, but my brother in law currently is borrowing my PS2. I also haven't finished Paper Mario for the WiI yet either. I'm currently on my second play through of Mass Effect...it is such an awesome game!!!

Played FFI, FFII, and FFIII repeatedly, but my super nintendo is on the fritz now so appears I won't be playing them anymore Almost finished FFX but it was my roomates and I got too caught up in trying to get all the ultimate weapons that I didnt beat the game before I moved. Started FFVII and it seemed like it would be really cool but it was a friends, he moved and I haven't been able to find it in the store So I have to say III is my favorite. Now my FF addiction is bubbling up again, need to go find FFVII and finished it!!! And I thought this forum was only for fish addicts.
